Reading and ‘The Big Read’

why do we do this?

Reading is a feature of all lessons here at the Academy, from our regular Big Read sessions in the morning through each and every lesson in the school day. Teachers are passionate in ensuring our students read widely and with confidence because how well we read is the number one driver for success in life. The Big Read programme has been designed to allow our community to share in a far reaching range of stories and voices, and we regularly promote independent reading through our Big Read token competition, enrichment programme, take-a-book-leave-a-book shelf, school library and English homework programme.
